Rhön-Radmarathon Tour E, 256km

Description

At Pentecost cyclists ride in Bimbach …. of course the Rhön-Radmarathon!

The Rhön-Radmarathon EXTREM (Tour E) is our most popular variant, which is done by more than half of the participants. One of the toughest cycling marathons in Germany and our promise is: "You won't find any more beautiful 256 km in Germany".

The route was completely redesigned in 2019 and leads clockwise over the "Open Distances" of the Hessian, Thuringian and Bavarian Rhön and into the Vogelsberg

Our premise during the planning was to lead the route over mainly low-traffic and attractive roads and to reduce the dangerous locations to a minimum. Since 2019, the focus has been on the southern Rhön and the "Schwarzen Berge" (black mountains). For 2022, we have optimized some minor parts of the route based on insights from 2021.

In addition to some well-known climbs, such as the Milseburg and the Ellenbogen, there are many new climbs, such as the Weidberg and the ascent to the Hochrhön from Hausen, the favourite ascent to the Hochrhön of our chief route planner.

Two of the three most difficult long climbs of the Rhön, the ascent from Ginolfs to the Hochrhön and the Totnansberg, are in the route. The climb to the Kreuzberg is the third one, but because the route does not lead until the Kloster (monastery), you miss the hardest part of this climb. At kilometre 198 the Große Nickus awaits you, which is in no way inferior to the famous Ebersburg.

The route leads to the last checkpoint gently upwards to Buchenrod and afterwards along the rivers Jossa and Lüder almost entirely downhill to Bimbach.

The Rhön-Radmarathon EXTREM is a part of the award "Bimbach 400" and together with Tour 4 on Saturday you accomplish the necessary 400 km. You can book the routes for both days in one step.

2000 starting places are available for the four Rhön-Radmarathon routes. The participant has to choose a time slot at the registration. The chosen timeslot is mandatory.
